The Lime Trust is gaining an outstanding reputation for teacher training and development.

Lime Academy Larkswood, accredited by the West Essex SCITT believe that teaching is an exciting, challenging and rewarding profession. As a lead school, we provide initial teacher training leading to QTS. We seek to create the next generation of truly outstanding teachers through the delivery of the School Direct salaried route and School Direct fee funded route.

Whether you are a recent graduate or looking for a change of career, this route in to teaching is a great way to gain the practical experience and skills necessary to become a qualified teacher. We ensure that all of our trainees are given access to a high quality, purposeful programme that ensures they are equipped to excel in the work place that they progress onto.

We pride ourselves on having a proven track record in training excellent practitioners and supporting them in gaining teaching positions.

About this training programme

At Lime Trust we offer the School Direct – Salaried and Unsalaried routes into teaching. It is hands on, spending four days in school and one day at our training centre.

Entry requirements

Salaried route
A minimum of a 2:2 in a first degree
English, Maths and Science GCSE (or equivalent) – Grade A-C
Minimum of three years work experience

Unsalaried route
A minimum of a 2:2 in a first degree
English, Maths and Science GCSE (or equivalent) – Grade A-C

Two references are required and certificates to demonstrate the acquisition of both the English and Maths Professional Skills Tests before a formal offer can be made.

UCAS training programme

The selection process

Once your application has been received by us via UCAS it will be reviewed and, if successful, you will be invited to interview, where you will be asked to teach a short lesson to a small group of pupils. This will be followed by an interview.

Applicants who are successful at interview, are offered a conditional place on either the School Direct Training Programme or the School Direct Training Programme (unsalaried). This offer is subject to the following criteria:

  • applicant must present original degree certificate and GCSE certificates (or equivalent) grade C or above passes in English, Maths and Science
  • proof of ID and residency
  • satisfactory references
  • satisfactory health check and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • applicant must pass the Professional Skills Tests in Literacy and Numeracy
